Go Tell the World About Me

The mission of the church can be summarized in one word - 'GO!' Jesus calls us to go

tell the world about His love and grace so that they may come to know Him as Lord and

Savior. This calling is rooted in the words of Jesus found in Matthew 28:18-20, commonly

known as the Great Commission. Following His resurrection, Jesus gathered His disciples

and declared, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go

and make disciples of all nations.” These words continue to serve as the foundation for

the Church’s evangelistic mission today.

The Great Commission begins with Christ’s authority. Jesus reminds us that He possesses

all authority in heaven and on earth. Evangelism is not a human effort or a religious

activity; it is a divine assignment given by the King of kings. Because Christ reigns over

all creation, believers can confidently proclaim His message, knowing that they serve

under His sovereign authority.

Jesus then commands His followers to “go and make disciples of all nations.” The focus

is not simply on gaining converts but on making disciples. A disciple is someone who

follows Christ, learns His teachings, and seeks to obey Him. Christian evangelism

therefore involves more than sharing information. It includes helping people develop a

personal relationship with Jesus and grow in their faith. Our goal is to transform lives

that reflect the character of Christ.

The phrase “all nations” reveals God’s heart for the world. The gospel is intended for

people of every race, language, culture, and background. Christianity is not limited to a

single group or region. God desires that all people hear the message of salvation through

Jesus Christ. Evangelism demonstrates God’s love and His desire that none should perish

but that all should come to repentance.

Jesus also instructed His disciples to baptize new believers in the name of the Father,

the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Baptism serves as a public declaration of faith and

symbolizes identification with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection. It marks the

beginning of a believer’s journey within the community of faith.

The Great Commission further emphasizes teaching believers to obey everything Christ

commanded. Evangelism and discipleship work together. The Church is called not only

to reach people with the gospel but also to nurture them toward spiritual maturity

through biblical teaching, prayer, worship, and fellowship.

Finally, Jesus offers a powerful promise: “And surely I am with you always, to the very

end of the age.” This assurance provides comfort and courage for every believer

engaged in evangelism. Christians do not carry out this mission alone. The presence of

Christ empowers and guides His people as they share the gospel.

Christian evangelism remains a vital calling for Trinity Church. Through faithful

obedience to the Great Commission, we can participate in God’s redemptive work,

inviting others to experience the hope, forgiveness, and eternal life found in Jesus Christ

alone.

Jesus invites you to 'come' to church on Sunday and then 'go' tell the world about him.
